Active School Travel

Promoting active modes of transportation!

Active School Travel (AST) is a program that promotes using active modes of transportation, such as walking, cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding when travelling to and from school.

Working with local schools and community stakeholders, the City of Markham applies the 5-step School Travel Planning model to address barriers in creating safe and healthy physical environments, and reduce traffic safety issues around schools.
